Terms and Conditions
Fridge Sealers Ltd (fridgesealers.co.nz) Last updated: 8/Sept/2026
These terms and conditions apply to every quote, job, and invoice from Fridge Sealers Ltd ("we", "us", "our"). By accepting a quote from us, you ("you", "the customer") agree to these terms.
1. Quotes
1.1 Quotes are provided based on the information and photos you give us, and are valid for 30 days from the date on the quote unless stated otherwise.
1.2 Occasionally, after providing a quote, we may find that we're unable to source the correct seal for your appliance, or are otherwise unable to complete the job as quoted. If this happens, we'll let you know as soon as possible and the quote will be void with no charge to you.
1.3 If, once on site, the job turns out to be different from what was quoted (e.g. additional damage, a different seal type required, difficult access), we'll let you know before doing any extra work and agree a revised price with you first.
2. Acceptance
2.1 You accept a quote by replying to the quote email, replying via WhatsApp or text message, or otherwise confirming in writing that you wish to proceed.
2.2 Acceptance of a quote means you agree to these terms and conditions as they stand at the date of the quote.
3. Pricing and Payment
3.1 All prices are in NZD. GST is shown separately unless stated as GST inclusive.
3.2 Domestic customers (personal or household use): payment is due on completion of the job, by EFTPOS (Visa and TAP + 2.5%), cash, or bank transfer.
3.3 Where a domestic customer is invoiced for something other than a completed job — for example, a call-out fee, waiting time, or seal costs under clause 9.2 — payment is due within 3 days of the invoice date, by bank transfer.
3.4 Commercial customers (business use): payment is due within 7 days of the invoice date, by bank transfer, unless we've agreed different payment terms with you in writing beforehand.
3.5 Any parking costs incurred while carrying out your job are charged on top of the quoted price, at cost + 10%, and itemised on your invoice.
3.6 Late payments may incur interest and/or debt recovery costs, which will be added to the amount owing.
4. Call-Outs and Access
4.1 No access / no one home: if we arrive at an agreed appointment time and are unable to gain access to the property, a call-out fee of $80 + GST applies.
4.2 Waiting time: if we're on site and access is delayed (for example, you're running late), waiting time is charged at $80 + GST per hour, charged in 15-minute increments after the first 15 minutes.
4.3 Call-backs due to user error: if we're called back to a job and the issue is found to be caused by something other than our workmanship or the seal itself (for example, misuse or user error), a call-out fee of $80 + GST applies for the return visit.
4.4 Please ensure the appliance is accessible, powered off if requested, and any surrounding items are cleared before we arrive, so we can carry out the work safely and efficiently.
4.5 Appliance condition: occasionally, once on site, we find that the door, frame, or hinges are damaged, warped, or otherwise in a condition that means a proper seal can't be achieved no matter what seal is fitted. If this happens, we'll let you know what we've found and discuss your options. The call-out fee in clause 4.1 applies for the visit, and if a seal has already been ordered or made for the job, clause 9.2 (seal costs) still applies — this is a pre-existing issue with the appliance, not something we can complete under this quote.
5. Scope of Service & Appliance Condition
5.1 Our core service is the fabrication and replacement of the flexible magnetic or compression profile seal.
5.2 We do not repair mechanical, electrical, or structural defects of the appliance.
5.3 If your refrigerator door or frame is warped, rusted, structurally misaligned, or has failed hinges/springs, a new seal may not create a perfect, airtight closure. While our technicians will adjust the door alignment where possible as part of our standard installation, we accept no liability if mechanical or structural appliance faults prevent an optimal seal.
6. Warranty
6.1 We warrant our workmanship and the seals we supply against faults and faulty installation, for the following periods from the date of installation:
-
Domestic customers: 12 months
-
Commercial customers: 3 months
6.2 The warranty covers:
-
Faulty installation
-
Faulty seals (manufacturing defects)
6.3 The warranty does not cover:
-
Normal wear and tear
-
Mould or mildew caused by poor ventilation, humidity, or other factors unrelated to the seal
-
Damage caused by the customer, staff, or third parties (including misuse, impact damage, cleaning with unsuitable chemicals, or forcing the door/seal)
-
Pre-existing damage to the appliance, door, or frame that wasn't caused by us
-
Faults in the appliance itself (e.g. compressor, thermostat, or other mechanical/electrical faults unrelated to the seal)
-
Work carried out or altered by someone other than Fridge Sealers Ltd after our installation
6.4 To make a warranty claim, contact us with your invoice/quote reference and, where possible, photos of the issue. We may need to inspect the appliance before confirming a claim.
6.5 This warranty is in addition to, and does not limit, your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 where that Act applies to you.
7. Liability
7.1 We take care to protect your property while working, but we're not responsible for pre-existing faults, damage, or wear in your appliance, door, or surrounding area that we didn't cause.
7.2 To the maximum extent permitted by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss — including, without limitation, spoiled food or stock, loss of use of the appliance, or business interruption — arising from a faulty seal, appliance fault, or delay, except where such loss arises directly from our negligence or faulty workmanship.
8. Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA) & Business Contracting Out
8.1 Where you are acquiring our services for personal, domestic, or household use, nothing in these terms limits or excludes your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
8.2 Where you are acquiring our services for the purposes of a business (Commercial Clients), you agree that the provisions of the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 do not apply to the transaction, as permitted under section 43 of the Act.
9. Cancellations and Rescheduling
9.1 Please give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations with less notice may incur the call-out fee in clause 4.1.
9.2 Once you accept a quote, we may order or make your seal before the appointment date. Seals are cut and/or ordered to fit your specific appliance and generally can't be resold or reused elsewhere. If you cancel after we've ordered or made the seal, you'll be charged the cost of the seal, even if the job itself doesn't go ahead.
10. Privacy Act 2020
10.1 We collect your personal information (name, phone, address, and email) solely to process quotes, complete on-site services, and manage invoicing. Your data will be handled securely in compliance with the Privacy Act 2020 and will never be sold to third parties.
11. General
11.1 These terms are governed by New Zealand law.
11.2 If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest will continue to apply.
11.3 We may update these terms from time to time; the version in effect at the date of your quote applies to that job
